Chandigarh the best planned city, ideal place for medical tourists

Chandigarh — A well planned city of Le-Corbusier, swiss born modern architect. The union territory is situated 304-365 meters above sea level at the Shivalik foot hills. The ambient air quality is better than that of most of the cities in the world.

This city is composed of sectors. Each sector is 800 meters by 1,200 meters, enclosed by roads allocated to fast mechanised transport and sealed to direct access from the houses. Each sector has a green strip stretching centrally along the sector in the direction of the mountains. This green strip is no disturbance area to accommodate schools, sports fields, walks and recreational facilities.

Chandigarh is the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana states of India. It is especially noted for its educational and cultural institutions.

Many Festivals, Exhibitions, Carnivals and Fashion Shows take place throughout the year. The Rose Festival is celebrated at Rose Garden during February or March. The Chandigarh Carnival is celebrated in the month of November. Students will participate in a number of competitions and show their talents. The Teej Festival, is a special attraction for tourists. Rock Garden assumes a festive look with young ladies partake in the fun and frolic amidst joyful songs and dances by swaying on the giant swings, adorning their hands with traditional Mehandi (henna). The Chrysanthemum Show is celebrated in the month of December in the Terrace Garden of Sector 33. Varieties of flowers are on display and competitions are held related to gardening.

The climate here has cold dry winter, hot summer and sub tropical monsoon.

The airport is 11 km from downtown. Taxis are available for Airport transfer. Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Air Deccan connects with New Delhi the National Capital. Chandigarh Tourism has well maintained Tourist Information Centre at the Airport.
