Stem cell facility in AIIMS
Stem cell facility in AIIMS came into existence in 2005.
This Facility caters to the need of the Cell Based Therapies for various degenerative disorders which include Heart Muscle Cells Regeneration, Occular Surface Reconstruction, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Stroke, Myocardial Infarct, Dialated Cardiomyopathy, Non-union Fracture, Extra Hepatic Biliary Atresia and Spina bifida.
It is also involved in Cord Blood Banking, which is a Central in-house Facility.
Apart from this it is also involved in Basic Stem Cell Research in area such as Mesenchymal Stem Cells, Corneal Epithelial Stem Cells, Epidermal Stem Cells, Cancer Stem Cells and Stem Cells Tissue Engineering.
